Board-Certified in Gastroenterology
Dr. Kumar Desai is a Diplomate of Gastroenterology and Hepatology with advanced training in endoscopic procedures. Dr. Desai graduated with honors from Creighton University Medical School and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. He then pursued specialized training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Advanced Endoscopy Expertise
To further refine his skills, Dr. Desai completed an additional fellowship in advanced endoscopy at UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospital in Dallas. There, he also taught residents and fellows, contributing to clinical education while developing expertise in procedures like EUS, ERCP, and Enteroscopy.

Sara Houck RN, BSN, FNP-C
Sara was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She went to University of Massachusetts, where she completed her undergraduate studies in nursing. She later went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern California, solidifying her foundation in advanced clinical practice. As a nurse she pursued a career in critical care, gaining extensive experience across a range of high-acuity settings. Her clinical background includes working in Cardiovascular Intensive Care, Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU, and serving on a Rapid Response Team, where she managed complex, time-sensitive cases and honed her skills in acute patient management.
Since January 2020, Sara has worked closely with Dr. Desai, developing a focused interest in gastroenterology. She finds the specialty both intellectually stimulating and professionally rewarding. Sara is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. She continues to expand her clinical knowledge and skills, ensuring her practice remains evidence-based, compassionate, and responsive to each patient's unique needs.
Sara lives in Thousand Oaks with her husband, 2 kids, 2 dogs and endless laundry.
Bobby Uichanco MSN - FNP
Bobby was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, CA. He began his academic journey at the University of California, Irvine, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. After discovering a passion for healthcare and service, he returned to school and earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Channel Islands.
Bobby began his nursing career as an Electrocardiogram Technician before transitioning into the role of a Registered Nurse at Los Robles Hospital. There, he worked primarily in the Coronary Care and Telemetry units, caring for patients with complex cardiac conditions and serving as a preceptor to both new graduate and experienced nurses.
Bobby also worked as a Nursing Skills Lab Instructor at Moorpark College, where he supported and mentored nursing students through hands-on skills training and simulation. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing at California State University, Channel Islands.
Bobby is passionate about education, mentorship, and delivering evidence-based, compassionate care. He is excited to be working with Dr. Desai and is determined to make a meaningful impact in the lives of his patients and community.
